Hello 4th graders!
Thank you for working independently and respectfully in the library today! I have a few reading activities for you to do while you are here.
The links below take you to passages (short stories) with comprehension questions after them. I would like you to read at least three of the passages today while you are in the library during testing. Answer the questions for each passage you read when you are done reading it.
You may choose either link below. The link will take you to a list of passages. Choose one to read and complete the questions. Remeber to complete 3!!!
When you are done with 3 passages you then need to complete 2 word activities. Click on either link for word activities and then choose an activity on that page.
After you complete 3 passages and 2 word activities you may read your independent reading book quietly in the library. Find a comfy spot to sit and dive in! Remember as you read to make predictions, infer, and ask questions. When you finish a chapter do a quick 10 word summary about the chapter in your head.

ACCESS Testing
Hello parents and students,
Finally an update on my blog! I can't believe we are halfway through the year!
As February is coming soon, I would like to update you on the MN state ELL tests that begin on Feb. 6th.
The test is called the ACCESS test. It assesses students in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. We use these scores to see how well students are progressing from year to year and to see where the school needs to improve its teachin the following year. This is the first year the state has given this test. Students have never seen it before.
It is a very long test so it may run into March. I will try to disrupt class time as little as possible.
In preparation for the test please make sure you child is getting enough sleep (at least 8 hours) and a good breakfast every morning. These two things make a huge difference!
Also, make sure your children are still reading at home and doing their homework. This will help them prepare by practicing the language on their own.
Remember that this test does not affect your grade but does show me where you are succeeding and where we need to work harder. Try your best!
I will update you when I know the testing schedule. It will begin on Feb. 6th.
If you have any questions please let me know via email or phone!
Thanks!
